How can you manage more
effectively with less energy? The MSG is a general management toolkit that
supports your own management approach. The method is an answer to the
growing complexity of organizations because of more and more
specializations. |
|
|
The approach is based on the
80/20-rule in making decisions, where 80 percent of the decision can be
taken or delegated by just referring to standard principles, which have been
agreed on earlier. This gives you time to focus more on people management,
strategy or other essentials that normally don't reach the management team.
By using this method you can focus your energy on the 20% of the special
cases, the real unique situations. |
The
MSG is like Kite-surfing: steering with the wind that blows through your
organization: |
 |
|
Benefits are:
- Making possible to handle
more decisions in less time
- Clearer communication to
you team and organization
- Easier to delegate
decisions
- Mastering conflicts and
resistance
- Frees up time for other
aspects that easily get snowed under
|
 |
|
How does it
work? |
There are three basic steps in
dominating the MSG:
- Redefine or define your
Organizational Style.
- The style of your
organization is visible in many aspects. Each
company has it's own style, which is unique. However there are many
similarities amongst organizations.
- Distillate general
steering principles that support and drive your style. Refine the
principles in new situations
- Behind each style there
are some driving principles. Try to distillate these principles by
examining situations in which to take a decision, or in which way
previously decisions were taken.
- Prioritize the
principles.
- Communicate the
principles.
- Communicate the
principles to your organization, management and team members.
- This can be done in many
ways, for example, by starting in your management team.
|
|
Mastering once
and benefit for ever |
|
Because of the recurring
- continuous - process, the MSG is easily mastered and can be combined with your own
management approach. |
This is a continuous process:
Re define the organizational
style when ever needed
Principles are refined in a
process whenever more information come up. This is not done in a big-bang
approach but gradually
Communicate. The most
essential part of management. Make the principles explicit, so everyone
can commit to them
